Adopted....Special Day.

Yesterday was a special day for our family, my son and daughter-in-law formally adopted two little boys.
It was a neat day, the court hearing was the last of the day and the Judge was very relaxed and let the kids climb around in the jury box then afterward she posed for pictures in front of the bench with the new expanded family. We then went to a local park and had sandwiches and they learned first hand what an ice-cream truck was. When the ice-cream truck arrived I commented they did not know what it was because they did not run for it like the other children however that was soon rectified shown here with their Snow-Cones. It will be a special Christmas.

  2. Oh Duke, this makes me smile. Congratulations for your family!

Every time we hear the music coming down the road, especially in the summer time, both my husband & I scream "Ice Cream Truck, Ice Cream Truck!!!". It's acually the road over from us. They NEVER come down our small dirt road, but it's still nice to hear & remember.

I remember running as fast as I could to my Mama to get a dollar, so I wouldn't miss him, to get a push up. Still love that orange & cream combination, to this day.

  5. Bravo Zulu to your son and his wife.

There's an old story about a breathlessly cynical remark from Winston Churchill or George Bernard Shaw or some sort on the occasion of one of their opponents marrying someone aweful: "This is proof that the Deity is a merciful God, as now only two are miserable rather than four."

Your son and his wife did the opposite: now four are happy rather than miserable. Even if there is the hand of the Lord involved, well done to them.

  9. Power to ya man! We can take so much for granted and not even realize there are those who have not owned or seen what we have been able to.

  12. Very cool.

For a few years our block was ignored by ice cream trucks. The first one that came down the street had the kids (they were little) a bit scared. That changed quickly.

    1. Russell, Some Ice Cream trucks sound a little like a horror movie with the sound tracks garbled a little.
