Last night my wife and I went to watch Les Miserables. The story line was good and I don't mind some musicals but usually the don't sing EVERY line.
The movie could easily have been an hour long if all lines were spoken however it turned into almost 3 hours.
I suggest they should have produced the movie with all speaking and called it Les Miserables then they could have produced this musical version and called it More Miserable.
Maybe it's a good thing I don't produce movies
I had wanted to see that movie because I had read the book a long time ago, but I went to see "the Hobbit" instead. I don't go to the movies that often. what can I say, I am a cheap bastard and the idea of dropping 10 bucks at a movie when I could spend the money on ammo or something. The Hobbit was a good movie, visually compelling and the special effects were top notch.
ReplyDeleteMrG, I don't see a lot of movies either, the Hobbit trailers looked interesting.
DeleteThe thought of going to a movie, especially when crowded, makes me generally miserable anymore.
ReplyDeleteMatt, Believe me, my eyes were tuned to any movement in there and I had my standard 'two gun carry'
DeleteSome people like Broadway musicals; I enjoyed them as a kid, and then outgrew them. I don't mind some of the "light" musicals even now: The Music Man, Mary Poppins, Camelot ... but there's something about a drama-mixed-with-music that makes me shudder.
ReplyDeleteRev Paul, I'm not a big fan either but some I do like some but every line being sung was a bit much.
DeleteI think I would rather see Lincoln at the theater instead of Les Miserables.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's any singing in this movie, lol.
Delete3 hours of singing in a movie is a bit much for me. I give you all kinds of credit for watching the movie.
Sandy, Lincoln is the other one I would like to see. It was a lot of singing but the story line kept me from leaving.
DeleteLOL, I take it you were NOT impressed???
ReplyDeleteOld NFO, the movie was well made and had good acting I just wish it wasn't so long and had some speaking parts.
DeleteOh, the breathless fops in NYC have been fluttering about "Les Mis" for years and they finally found a way to get it out into the hustings so we vast unwashed could view the masterpiece over which they coo.
ReplyDeletebook? Okay. Musical? nah!
MC
Mostlycajun, I tend to agree. Thanks.
