Gun Sales, Gun Bans.

I was reading the paper this morning and saw where congress was thinking of banning high capacity 'clips'.......if that will make them happy and solve the problems I can live with that as long as they leave magazines alone, see I could compromise.
On another note, I went by a local gun store today to check out some supplies, the parking lot was packed and I had to wait for a parking spot. Once inside people were stacked 10 deep at the counter and the line was around the store for the cash register.
Here is prices I overheard quoted to customers.
Stripped AR15 lower, $500 (CMMG $110 last week)
S&W stripped lower, $600
Plastic  30 round AR mags, $35
Basic Bushmaster AR15 $ 3000
I understand many stores are sold out but this one had a good supply however they were way down from normal supply levels, I guess they decided to gouge as much as possible.
BTW, this is probably the largest gun shop in NE Florida and I have bought a lot here in the past, don't think I will forget their price gouging any time soon.
No..... I did not buy anything.

  1. Duke,

AR's start here at $1,100. Most of the common sporting good stores (Academy and Dicks) have removed the AR's from the shelves. The large gun shops here have sold many AR's. The AR's don't last long on the shelves. There are several gun shops that have gouged prices here. This is crazy!!!!!

  2. You can't be a capitalist and complain about the free market.

    1. Yes you can. When no value is added and no service is performed and the only thing that a profiteer does is race everyone else to the head of the line for scarce items then hoard the wanted items just to wring more money out of every other would-be buyer, that's not capitalism or free market in the true sense--it's just a few people enriching themselves by being dicks. Capitalism envisions a two-way street where each party benefits, the seller by profit and the buyer by some added value or convenience.

    2. K, I love the free market but it work's both ways. I am free to buy where I am treated fair and get the best value and I am free also to remember in the future who treated me right in the past and do business with them.

Murphy, absolutely true, I can also see raising prices (lets say $200) if it will cost the store $200 more to replace them but I am not seeing that. Thanks.

  3. God bless the free market, but three grand for a one thousand dollar rifle is silly.

    2. Stephen we will see, I used to think $1000 for a $300 rifle was crazy. (Colt AR's used to be $300 at one time) Thanks.

    1. I think I would be tempted because I believe things will settle a bit, there's in not even a bill in congress and the manufacturers are cranking out in overtime right now. JMHO.

  6. While in the local gun store here, I heard that store your talking about was also selling standard M1A's for $4900.00, and that was from fellow customer. I should stand across the street and sell mine for $4800. Uh..., no but hell no. I love her too much.

    1. Senior, I did see a couple of M1A's but I guess I know why. They also still had at least 50 complete AR's and a good selection of lowers and uppers.
