Rattlesnake Salloon

While visiting family during Thanksgiving my brother decided to take us to a little restaurant he had found out in the middle of nowhere. It was the Rattlesnake Saloon. We traveled over 60 miles to get there and there is nothing within 20 miles of this place.

Upon arriving in the parking lot shown we waited for the "Saloon Taxi" shown below to take us to the restaurant.

We were driven to a gate and down a narrow trail, the first 200' or so seemed like an impossible slop to navigate in a pickup, here the trail had leveled out a little and we descended in a open cave where this place had been constructed.

At the bottom we unloaded
Here is the Saloon/Restaurant nestled in the cave.

You can see some tables here outside. The food was good and the prices reasonable.
 The front of the Saloon.

We ate outside, there were tables inside as well as out but we sat and ate with thousands of tons of rock over our heads.

Here is a picture looking straight up to a tree on the edge of the cavern over our heads.
The Rattlesnake Saloon is located in NW Alabama not too far from the Mississippi and Tennessee lines. Below is the menu, it was an adventure worth having.

  1. That sounds GOOD. If it weren't for the pesky 4,000 mile commute, I'd check it out!

    1. Thanks Rev Paul, 4000 miles is a bit far but almost worth the trip.

  3. Menu looks great. Too long of a day for us. Can you pick us up & place us there in just a few minutes? However, anyplace that sells Yuengling by the pitcher is a good place.

  4. Sounds like a great place to check out (sight see) and eat when in the area. Thank you for sharing, we wouldn't have know this place existed. I'm printing this out, so if were in the area we will check the Rattlesnake Saloon out.

  5. When I first saw the road I would have sworn you were in West Virgina. I still have nightmares of some of those roads Papa Bear took me on.

So did you have the Duke Burger?...Bet it was good. What an interesting place.

    1. Mamma Bear, Actually I got the Rustler burger and it was huge, I had to leave some of my fries, very good burger. The Appalachian mountains come down into Alabama so there are quite a few mountain roads. Thanks.

  8. I didn't know what to expect so I followed the photos carefully. SO carefully in fact, that the photo of the caverns with the saloon inside nearly gave me a heart attack! (I'm horridly phobic about caves) At first, as the truck carried you away, I was hoping you were armed. lol
