Just Shoot Me (It's Easter)

Today is Easter, undoubtedly one of the biggest religious holidays in the entire world but you would not know it by going to Google's home page, they choose to honor the birthday of Ceaser Chavezs, a Mexican commie, labor rabble rouser.

If you had to choose between Jesus or Chavezs as to who has done more for mankind who would you pick?
Obviously Google has chosen.

Currency, Government Slavery

A few days ago I wrote about different ways the government keeps us in slavery and as I pondered this it dawned on me our monetary system is another form of slavery.
You may think that having a good supply of money is a hedge against any form of 'slavery' because after all if you can go places and have things you are not enslaved and while that may sound good on the surface it is not totally true. Our current monetary system is much like the old 'Company Store' the miners had where the 'company' issued tokens or 'money' as payment for work which could only be used at the company store and the mine owners set the value of the currency, and so it is today the government gives us their currency and they set the value by deciding how they think our economy should be structured either by printing more money and devaluing it or setting interest rates etc. It is all a very complicated system of taxes, fees, bank regulations, min.wages, trade balances, printing, government spending.....the list seems endless.
The Government knows that if we have to use their "legal tender" they can control us through taxes and fees, even if we keep it in banks they have control over those as well via regulations. It is all a clever design to have control and power.
At one time our currency was based on a 'gold standard' which means our coins had silver or gold content and our paper money could be redeemed for gold and silver as well but that is not so any more, the government had the bright idea in the 1960's to do away with that standard and set our monetary values at whatever they say it's worth and we all know how good their word is.
I have used this example before but it still makes a point of how this has worked out for us. In 1960 (when quarters had silver content) you could buy a gallon of gas with a quarter, however the government said that it wasn't necessary to have a gold standard anymore because they would look out for us and regulate the value of currency (interpret, control us and the money) so through manipulation of the markets and money value (buying power) we now have gas around $3.60 per gallon. We bought into their cleverly devised scheme to 'spread the wealth' and thought it didn't matter but the heat was gradually being turned up on the frogs and through inflation we are at this stage and because the more you earn and spend the more taxes you pay the government was the big winner especially considering the government still has all the gold they once had backing the dollar.
Here is the big kicker, if you had saved your quarters back then (prior to 1964) and put them in a safe you could today go to a coin shop and cash each one in for $5.17 at today's silver prices and guess what you could still buy a gallon of gas and have money left for a cup of coffee, so you see how the government has 'helped us out.'
Bottom line is money saved in the form of gold and silver is the best hedge against not only inflation but freedom against government control and taxes because if you had saved gold and silver back then gas would in effect (along with most everything else) be cheaper today. The reason gas costs $3.60 a gallon is because the money we are using is not worth near what it used to be not because oil has more value.
The moral of today's story........ Less government means more freedom, always has always will.

Snow to sunshine.

Well we arrived back to Florida where I had just planted the garden last week, it was good to get away for a few days.
I awoke in the North Georgia mountains to this early this morning.

Nine hours later we were back in the Florida sunshine, we don't get much snow here in March.  Now that I think about it we don't get much snow period.

This Ain't Right

I am enjoying a few days of peace in the mountains but I was watching Fox News this morning and saw about a test given to 5th graders which asked why terrorists attack America, the correct answer was because America acts in ways which provoke it (or words to that effect)
When one mother complained she was told they would not change it because one parent complained.
This I don't understand, if one Muslim or one minority complained they would change in a heartbeat do you know why? it's because they are afraid of the backlash. Fringe groups provide backlash, schools are afraid of it
Bottom line is we need to supply backlash..... You figure it out.

Food For Thought

I very seldom post something written by someone else but this is worth reading.

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally ...you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the only school curriculum allowed to explain how we got here is evolution, but the government stops a $15 million construction project to keep a rare spider from evolving to extinction ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote who runs the government ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is "cute," but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested “homes”... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government's plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more "safe" according to the government ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

Slavery, how little things change.

We have come a long way since slavery................or have we ?
Lets see, in 1813 slaves belonged to the master but in 2013 we belong to the government. If you don't think that's true then why do you have a government issued serial number, why do you have to have a government issued birth certificate or a government issued marriage license or driving license or passport or hunting license or concealed carry permit. Why do they force you to pay income taxes.....no you need to face the facts your butt belongs to the government.
In 1813 slaves did not own property, today in 2013 we do not own property, you don't think so? well you just stop paying property taxes to the government and see who really owns your property.
I tell you what, stop buying a government issued tag for your car and government mandated insurance and go speeding off across country and see how long before the government takes your car, fact is you can only have what the government can control, you can't even buy a pack of gum without getting approval in the form of sales tax.
In 1813 slaves were only educated to the point they were useful to the owner, this is even more truer today. In 2013 kids are indoctrinated in the government slave owners school only to the point they become useful to the government.
The only thing that used to be different was in 1813 slaves were only given bare bones medical treatment by the master to keep them useful and productive and in 2012 we had the best medical care available however in 2013 0bama has changed that to where we are on the road to bare bones treatment and only to the point we are productive members of the government plantation, if you are too old and not worth saving you will be disposable.
I have this theory, in 1964 the Democrats were the biggest opponents of civil rights and freedom and today they are the same, they lost that fight in 1964 so they changed tactics to get control back.
It is your Constitutional right to do as much 'under the radar' as possible.

Welcome and Notes

A special welcome to new follower James, he has a blog called Man of the50's so please be sure to check it out.
Things have been busy lately, I spent the last few days repairing a septic tank on an old rental house, not my favorite job I can assure you, where's a hard working Democrat when you need one (or is there such a animal)
I hope to post more tomorrow.

Welcome and such.

First order of business I would like to welcome chams90 to the list of readers here at my humble blog, I am not aware if he has a blog but will be happy to provide link if he does.
Things have been hectic on my end, the weather is still cool for this time of year, not that I am complaining but the later we have to wait to get in the spring garden the worse it is in the summer which burns up the tail end of the crop. Anyway, I saw this silly little cartoon the other day and thought you might enjoy.

Maybe it will be OK...Update

I mean it seemed to work pretty good for the Indians so maybe things will work out OK.

Update...
If you think about it do you think the government might want us all living on Reservations where they dole out a meager existence for us ? Where we have to live in their little compound they provide for us.
Think of the similarities between us and the native American Indian, the government told them to "spread the wealth, you don't need all that land, besides you didn't really earn it"

Menace to society

I was watching Fox news and heard this story
It is about the boy pictured here. He is Josh Welch, a 7 year old  boy from Baltimore Maryland who was eating a strawberry tart in the lunch room at his elementary school when he nibbled his tart in the shape of a gun and was  suspended for 2 days for violating the schools policy on guns. Teachers and school administrators like this are idiots, for once I wish someone would sue the school system over stuff like this.
Is it any wonder our country is in the shape it's in when we let fools like this teach the children and we honestly don't know why they grow up and elect imbeciles like we have in government.
This is why they have to rewrite history, like this painting of Washington crossing the Delaware would violate the school policy, not only does it depict a gun but also a bayonet which we all know is pure evil.
I am so glad my kids were home-schooled and not subjected to this mentality.
Is it possible if you take a kid like this and force him to conform to oppression like this one day he will snap and bring a real gun to school and shoot this teacher ?
Did I really just elude to that ?

Grizzly Target Field Review

This past weekend our shooting group converged on the range for a weekend of camping, work and shooting. There were seven of us among whom were Stephen and Senior. After a morning of work we set out our array of firearms everything from modern day weapons to WWII, handguns and rifles. I had been anticipating this because I wanted to do a extensive field review on my new Grizzly Target. I had done a preliminary review a few days ago and was eager to test it with a variety of weapons.

First up I set the target out at the 15 range and we tested it with a variety of handguns which included 22, 9mm, 45 ACP, 38 Special, 7.62x25 and even a 32-20 revolver and one of my newest carry guns a Charter Arms 44 Special.
There was really no surprise with this test, with a good solid hit the target would fold down and pop right back up. The 22 would not fold it completely down (maybe half way back) but still enough to tell it was hit. After at least 50 hits from handgun ammo and a careful examination there was no damage to the target and apart from a few smudges of lead no sign of being hit.

Next I moved the target out to 50 yards and grabbed my newest build a 300 ACC Blackout on a AR frame. I shot it 3 times (.308, 150gr bullet) and with each hit it would flatten down and spring back up with a clang but again after inspection I could not find any damage.
Next up Jim (shown at right) put a solid hit on it with a 303 Enfield at 50 yds....it hit hard, the target folded down harshly and sprang right back up. Everyone of us walked up to the target and looked down, we were all shocked, there was not even a dent. I run my fingers across the surface, front and back....no mark. the only telltale sign was the heavy galvanizing was chipped. As we walked back Jim said "mind if I hit it with my 7.5 X 54 French" I said "go for it" again it hit hard and after a repeat inspection....no damage.

Senior had been shooting his AR-15 with the 22 conversion bolt and had switched back to 5.56 to blow the carbon and crud out of the gas tube so with the target still being at 50 yards he put five good hits on the target.
With each hit the Grizzly Target would fold down with a clang and spring right back into position. We all inspected the target again, this time the surface us slightly deformed, you could see the hit marks (proof below) each impact point was about 1/16 of an inch deep but still no danger of total penetration.
Steve had been sighting in a Mosin Nagant with a scope (at right) so I moved the Target out to 100 yards and he landed a good solid hit with a 147 gr bullet. This time we were all surprised, for those who don't know the 7.62 X 54 Russian round is a beast but after inspection of the target there was less sign of impact than that of the little 5.56.
I decided to bring the target back to the 50 yard mark and test it again with the Nagant just to make the range equal and give a fair comparison. Stephen decided to try his hand at destruction, At 50 yards the target was slammed hard with the mighty Russian round, I thought the target might destruct....  you could hear the clang of the target as it was shot even over the blast of the muzzle then Steve (different Steve) shot it again with a 147 grain bullet and again with a 182 grain machine gun round.
After inspection there was a slight indent but noticeably less than the 5.56. This was a total surprise, each of us would have bet money that the big Russian round would do more than the 5.56 but the proof is here.
I know from experience what rounds will do to mild steel, this is not made from mild steel it is AR500 (3/8" plate) it is the same steel used in some body armor and is laser cut to shape and it makes a superior target (I just wish we had a supply of this steel in the early days of the Iraq War for hardening vehicles but that's a different story for another day)
To sum it up we were all impressed with the target, while there was slight impressions left in the target from the 5.56 and 7.62 X 54 rounds it was in no way damaged and still functioned flawless.
I have spent countless hours in the past building targets and welding plate only to have it needing extensive repair because some goon blasted it apart with a high power rifle and to be honest I thought this test might be a repeat that is why we worked up to higher powered rounds but to my amazement it held up.... and very well at that.
Steel targets are so much more fun to shoot than paper targets, especially any moving (or in this case) auto-reset type targets, they give you a visual and audible response which is especially nice if you don't have a spotter scope which means you don't have to walk miles a day back and forth repairing and replacing targets which makes this target a winner in my book.
This Grizzly Target is quality, American style. Many thanks to these good folks for the chance 'test drive' this target, they have every right to be proud of it. We would be in so much better shape is Congress worked a fraction this well.

Another Carry Option

For all mothers of small children, This would give all your liberal friends screaming fits.

The beauty of this setup is if a purse snatcher is running away you have a close range and long range weapon.

Lost my dignity.

Recently  it was brought up that Congress should take a pay cut, while I grant you it would have no real impact on the Nations financial problems it would have been a 'we feel your pain' solidarity moment.
Nancy Pelosi was against it and said it would lower the dignity of the Congress. This is mind boggling on more than one level, first of all what is she smoking, obliviously they need to drug test her, does she not know the dignity of Congress can't possibly go lower....most people in prison have more honor than she does so voting themselves a pay cut would boost their image immensely and they are in a position to not be needing the money that bad anyway.
More important than that it shows what she really thinks  of those of us who have had to take pay cuts for the last few years, she thinks we have no dignity.
I firmly believe people like her will one day get their judgement.
