Tips to Surviving Martial Law (part 2)

Yesterday I did a very short piece on Martial Law (or whatever else you wish to call it) and I was reminded of some misconceptions about survival when this happens and we have TEOTWAWKI.
My intent was not to tell you how to operate but to get you to maybe think of different options which maybe you had not considered. In a survival situation the most common threat I think will be looters, thugs, zombies etc who did not prepare and wish to take your stuff anyway they can, defending against them is something you need to consider and take proper steps to ensure survival.
The other issue is trained, well armed troops, this was the focus of my blog yesterday. These troops will very likely be used to enforce martial law. I should also point out most of them will no doubt be doing so reluctantly and this is even more reason not to cross them because if you appear to comply they most likely will move on. I have heard many bone-headed comments about how someone will take on all threats regardless of who they are, if that's a hill you want to die on be my guest I'm just here to tell you if you tangle with a squad of Marines or Army troops etc you will loose. That group of soldiers at your door is backed up by more troops and one well armed Humvee can level your home in seconds and not break a sweat. This is why most people who have been trained by the military in these weapons understand what they can do and don't want to be on the receiving end of them.

I know somebody will say "what about guerrilla tactics" , well let me tell you the difference. You can't use them when you are face to face with someone. When I was in Iraq it was somebody shooting from a building a long ways off and guess what, they still lost....almost every time, this is why they resorted to road side bombs. Bottom line is if they know where you are, you will loose, sure you may take some of them  with you but is that really a good plan? You have to understand there in nothing in a city block that will stop a 50 cal round. It will go through 10 houses and kill anyone in it's path...and it's fully auto, also a Mk 19 is a machine gun which shoots grenades which upon impact have a 5 meter kill radius (over 15 feet) not to mention the AT4, all these are squad weapons. We have not even touched on helicopter mounted weapons.
It goes without saying the VERY best plan is being a long ways away when these events go down, bug out before hand. If you have no option but to stay home, be smart. Play it safe the best you can IF you really want to survive.
I am not trying to defend the government and actions they may take, just pointing out the probable outcome if you engage them.

  2. You are entirely correct about this, it's attacking where the foe is strong rather than weak.

As opposed to if the martial law is localized or the military keeps getting more politically correct a properly outrageous complaint(that plays to PC and those who hate the soldiers they are using anyway) could tie down a unit for weeks or months with investigation and recrimination while undermining moral.

    Just a thought.

  3. Thank you Duke... I hear so many people say the soldiers better not come on my place or I'm gonna....(fill in the blank)

If the shtf we are not going anywhere. We are 45 minutes from the nearest town and 4 miles off the highway so the only ones we have to "fear" are looters and such. We'll stand our ground then and I really don't think they want to mess with anyone in our neck of the woods. Almost everyone in our area here is well trained and armed.

A very, very good post that will keep many alive if they pay attention to it.

    1. Mamma Bear, you are in a good position and yes you would be unlikely to be as effected as much as those in cities.

  4. Duke - i like that you said that the very best plan is to bug out before these types of events happen. this is what we tell anyone who is interested in listening. if you have any means or ways - find a way to get out of the city, burbs and suburbs. and from there start re-building your food stores and weapons and ammo caches. learn to grown your own food. go off grid.

however, if that is not possible then you really must plan for the smartest moves to make/take if martial law sets in. and i think your advice in these last 2 posts is very sound.

one last thing, jambaloney and i were discussing having a decoy weapon to hand over (which, i promise, would never happen here. there isn't a trained soldier on the planet who could find their way around here - we really, really are out in the boonies on an island that no one in the world cares about - bahahah!). anyway, jambaloney suggested getting a really old, piece of crap rifle or two and hanging them on your wall or displaying them beside the fireplace. when they come to confiscate, make a big deal about the sentimental value of great-granddaddy's flint-lock. don't be obnoxious, just look really hurt and decimated by losing your favourite weapon. that might help too with the decoy situation.

    your friend,
    kymber

  5. Kymber, I agree about being out away from everything, that is best. As for decoy guns, that may work also if they think it is useable. Possibly real antiques such as muzzle loaders may not be a target of such confiscations.

  7. Indeed, guerilla warfare is best practiced in the wild, but gorilla tactics might work if they get close enough for you to pound them with your mighty fists.
Sorry Duke, but you happened to be the daily target of the spelling Nazi (aka: Me).
