You Know What I Despise ?

Safety warnings, I hate them, they insult my intelligence.  I don't need a sign telling me hot coffee will burn me. This is why we have parents, to teach us common sense.
I wish after McDonalds had the law suit against them for the hot coffee incident they had filed a counter suit against the parents of the plaintiff because they raised an idiot.
What I see when I read safety warnings is, "Bless your little heart, you are just so stupid so we will spell it out for you"
I have a Ruger revolver in 44 mag that had the Adobe "read me file" on the barrel so I turned it down to remove it, it looks so much better, like a gun is supposed to look. If you have to have a safety warning let it say in the owners manual, "If you are too stupid this will kill or injure you" end of warning.
Why would a person see a power saw cut wood or steel and not realize it will cut your fingers off. If a person does not have the mental capacity to operate machinery do you really think they have the mental capacity read and understand a warning?
I tend to believe we play God by issuing safety warnings, did God put a sign or hand rail on a cliff to stop people from falling off ?  No he intended for us to either have common sense and make good choices or have parents to protect us when we were children.
In the same vein I think instructions in this country should be printed in English only, If I was in Germany I would expect instructions in German only.
If I had my way the only Spanish (or any other language) in the instructions would be " These instructions are in English, if you cant read them you stand a good chance of being maimed or killed"
I love freedom and don't need the government mandating safety warnings via OSHA or any other agency. I also realize companies print warnings to protect from law suits however this is the product of our government run schools indoctrination centers that teach kids nothing is your fault it's the big evil companies who are endangering you. I have a novel idea, lets teach kids if you step out in front of a car you will get run over and killed, but no, we put flashers on school buses to stop traffic so kids learn they are so important everyone will cater to them.... and you really wonder how we have raised a generation of self centered people who think like the Occupy Wall Street crowd.
I don't prescribe to a lot of conspiracy theories however I do think there is a plan via the government brainwashing centers to breed a whole generation of government dependents who think they belong to government and the government always knows best. I guess the next election will reveal if we have reached the tipping point and the government has created enough dependents and non-thinkers to gain total control.

  1. I forget which comedian said, "I'm not saying we kill all stupid people, I just say let's remove all warning labels and let the problem take care of itself."

  2. Thank you! All true! Thanks especially for expressing one of my pet grouches -- that public processes have stacked the deck in favor of making kids think they rule the world. Have you been stopped at a stoplight near a high school at dismissal time?(....which could be any time after 11 AM!?!) They flaunt their "power" over traffic, sashay and saunter ever-so-slowly, even stand still in the street to converse. Who raises these self-esteem monsters?

  4. I totally agree with you regarding instructions be in english because this is the United States. If you live in the United States and you don't want to follow the laws or learn the english language maybe you need to reconsider where you want to reside.

As for common sense, that's hard to find in the younger generations.

  5. It's like a shampoo bottle that reads do not take internally. Makes me wonder if someone was once so stupid to think if they swallowed some they would have nice, clean shiny hair and wouldn't have to bother with washing.

  6. The absolute worst sign that we are losing the battle for common sense is the fact that the Hershey candy bars now have instructions for opening the candy printed on the wrapper! As we say around here, if you need instructions to eat candy, you are too stupid to eat candy.

  9. Duke,

I was the one that wrote on your last entry

"We would have chemistry sets as kids with actual real chemicals in it and toys with sharp edges that tought us the hard way to be careful with handling things"

I am glad I inspired this latest post by you. I used to have a google account and I went by the name "captaincrunch" which I still use on the paratus familia blog. There was a gentleman out of Georgia that also you to post on this blog and had his own blog that was quite excellant. Unfourtunetly I forgot his name?

I kinda agree with you on the "dependent syndrome" that's turning people in this country occupy wallstreet markist swine.
However, I place blame more in the Socialism in Schools that dumbing down our kids and teaching them not to use critical thinking and independent creative thought.

They are now tought that they are not held responible for thier own actions and decisions.

    1. Anon, very true, The schools hold a lot of the blame. I don't really blame the teachers (for the most part) they are stuck in the system they can't change. Kind of like working on a model T Ford, no matter how much money you spend it will never fly to the moon. Thanks.

    2. I knew some teachers that were not part of the problem and I knew a few that promoted "diversity and anti-Americanism" in public schools.

I think public schools are filled in all levels is "socialist" Some employees are "critical thinking capitolist' but most were raised with or bought into the "bleeding heart, socailist markist thinking"

What they have not realized is that some people cant be helped by the state. They must help themselves. Some school kids will never make it through the system no matter how much money they throw into the schools.

On the diversity thing, you can quote me (captaincrunch) on this one.

Diversity; owning lots of different guns in different calibers.

  11. I have to say something about the coffee lawsuit. McDonalds had HUNDREDS of calls and complaints on the temp of the coffee in that particular store. It was even over osha standards of safe. They knowingly and willfully ignored the calls and complaints of burns. The end result is someone picking up a coffee in the drive thru and sticking it between their legs and driving off. The coffee sloshed and caused third degree burns to the genitals of this person which resulted in multiple surgeries and pain and suffering we can only guess at. That's not the same thing as burning your mouth on hot coffee. And if McD's hadn't ignored all the calls and had not been in violation they would not have lost that lawsuit.

No one ever brings that up. All they see is someone getting a settlement for a burn. Its a little deeper than that ... no pun intended!

Otherwise I agree 100% with what your article says. I just happen to have the misfortune of working for a attorney years ago and know a little more about what happened on the infamous burn lawsuit than the general public seems to.

  12. autumnesf, thanks for the input. There is always two sides to every story, still there are frivolous lawsuits as well. Thanks again.
