I have heard a lot of rumblings about ammo sales being limited by certain stores and I partially understand it, there are people buying and hoarding who didn't have the foresight to see this coming but now want to cash in.
After 0bama was crowned the 'worthless prince of America' the first time around the same $15 brick of 22 ammo at Walmart cost $35 at the gun show
I tell you what I did see with my own two eyes at a very large gun store near me was a sign which read
"Ammo purchase limited to gun sales, two box limit"
Funny you posted this just now. I just got back from the local China-Mart where they have just recently posted a 3 box limit per customer per day.
ReplyDeleteI also noticed that the ammo shelves were still 75% to 80% empty.
Matt, 3 boxes a day would be hard to regulate unless they kept a list.
DeleteMatt, We also have a 3 box maximum here, at our China-Mart. The case was 95% empty with only 3 boxes of 50 rounds of 40 S&W, a couple for a 12 gauge shotgun and a large box of 45 ACP for $89. The ammo manager was also as nervous as a cat.
DeleteDitto, same here in Denver.
ReplyDeleteFlier389, At least they are still selling some. Thanks.
DeleteAt my range we now only sell ammo to shooters, not people just coming by to pick some up.
ReplyDeleteKeads, that's not a bad policy for them, makes sense to be able to keep the range open.
DeleteSame here south of Denver in the Sand Dunes Nat. Park area. All the other stores can't keep in on the shelves. I end up buying random boxes when I am out of town, and cash only. If anyone asks, I only have one little box of ammo.
ReplyDeleteMudbug, I guess it's all over.
DeleteWalked into one of my haunts last week - cases and cases of 9mm. $14.95/box. Wasn't greedy - only took 10 boxes. Of course, that'll be eaten by a Tactical Pistol course I have in 2 weeks. Honestly, here if you keep your eyes open there is ammo to be found. Just gotta keep lookin'.
ReplyDeleteeiaftino, not the best price but at least you could still get it. Thanks.
DeleteIt should be understood..if some gun stores didn't restrict or impose limits on purchases of stock they'd be sending employees home. Panic clears shelves quicker than any emotion on earth.
ReplyDelete+1 on Stephen, my gun store limited 'available' ammo to five boxes a person. But they still ran out...
ReplyDeleteStephen and Old NFO, agreed, As much as I hate it I bet Wally World will get re-supplies quicker than anyone else. They are probably the largest buyer in the country.
DeleteI gotta pick up some .22 for the range. My higher calibers will stay home. I can still practice with the little 22LR. I am glad that I bought my adapter for the AR several months ago.
ReplyDeleteMrGarabaldi, That is exactly what I do in fact last weekend I shot about 100rds of 22.
Deletei checked all stores in a larg town 30 mins away no 5.56 or 22lr so we drove to a much larger town an hour away same results. what a bad time to run out of varmit rounds in 223 and with an 8yr old i always need 22lr.
ReplyDeleteCrane op, It probably will take a while to settle down.
DeleteThere was another limit set at Academy, and if you're looking for ammo there check at the front desk. They've been storing 45, 9mm, and 223 behind the counter, not in the gun department.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I have not even tried to buy anything but I do keep my eyes open and have noticed the lack of supplies, thanks.
