Just Wondering, NY Shooting.

I don't always play Monday morning quarterback but this NY city shooting has me a little puzzled. I know it was a busy city street and I know the criminal was armed and drawing his weapon on police but what would possesses the two officers to fire 16 rounds between them to bring down the suspect. Were they bad shots or just poorly trained. Were they firing blanks or were their weapons woefully underpowered to do the job. Were the rounds going through the suspect and hitting bystanders or were they just complete misses.
One thing I know for sure is you can't get proper training just qualifying at the range once a year, that is one lesson from this. It appears the cops were trying to protect themselves with no regard for the general public all around.
One thing I do believe, if this had been a concealed weapons carrier doing this  instead of cops there would be a huge cry from the bed-wetters saying this was proof it is a bad idea to have concealed carry by untrained civilians.
I also think fashion designers should be put on the DHS list as potential domestic terrorists.

  1. Yes, and that's a crying shame.

  2. I can understand the panic shooting, but I can't understand blind fire. No one can be asked to be 100% accurate when panic shooting your first few rounds, it's about suppression until you can get accurate shots on target.
But ya, 9 people, 16 rounds.

    Different headline, different results:

    Murderer shoots 10 in NY.
Cops shoot murderer and 9 others in NY.

    1. Max, A properly trained officer is not supposed to panic like this, they should work from instinct.

  3. Yeah, NOT a good banner headline for Bloomie... And you're right, he'll TRY to spin this into his anti-gun agenda...

    1. Old NFO, They will use what they can for anti gun agenda but it would have been worse with a civilian doing the shooting. Thanks.

  4. Sounds like some additional training is required by someone!

Still, I guess it could have been a lot worse!
