Duck Dynasty, Maybe I'm Cynical

I like Phil Robinson of Duck Dynasty and support his right to free speech. I am sick and tired of the left wing bed wetters spouting any kind of garbage and getting a pass. With that in mind I wonder why A&E would suspend Phil from the show, A&E is a business and what trumps religious beliefs and gay rights and everything else is money. Bottom line is they will sacrifice anything for it, money is king to them. So I wonder if this is a fabricated event, I believe Phil is an upstanding man and would not support a plot like this but I wonder if A&E orchestrated the interview with GQ to lure him into saying this and then suspend him to create this uproar. A&E could not pay for this kind of publicity for the show, every news network is covering it and it is a major hot topic of the week. I wonder if in a few days A&E will apologize and reinstate him in the show. It doesn't make sense that A&E would purposely tick off  their viewers because considering that left wing, gay right groups and such don't even watch the show. On the other hand if Phil is brought back many new viewers will tune in to find out what all the hype is about. I don't know maybe I am cynical.

  1. I suspect there's something to what you theorize ... it smells like a deliberate move. One commentator pointed out last night that the interview actually took place three months ago, to be ready for publication now - meaning that A&E waited until the remarks were published to do anything.

    It's deliberate.

  2. The Obama regime likes it...It pulled the trainwreck known as "Obamacare" off the news cycle and he and the other leftist can use the event to denigrate the "bitter clingers" and try to unify his base....or am I too cynical?

  3. One of the headlines on Drudge today was that the family feels it was all a set up.
Every one and anyone who watches the show knows his views. So GQ new the answers before even asking those questions.

A&E needs Duck Dynasty, but they don't need A&E. They leave that channel and ones like CMT will be more then happy to pick them up and get those ratings..

    1. JUGM, Very true indeed, they do not need A&E even more reason why this seems more than a little fishy. Merry Christmas to you and Senior.

  4. You may well be right on A&E creating this hoopla; you can't buy this kind of advertising.

On another note, Aleck Baldwin seems to have finally been replaced by Capital One sadly, by a most vile and wretched racist, Samual L Jackson.

    1. JD, I do think it all seems a little strange. Aleck Baldwin is a low life of the first order to bad Capitol One replaced him with another piece of trash.

  5. I am not so sure about the money angle being as cut and dry though if looked at from the other world of Liberal entertainment. While the masses agree with Phil they have little pull in the corporate world where as the 1% Gay Lobby has a lot of pull especially when they can manage to get the rest of the Liberal Allied conglomerate behind them. Also while gays make up such a small part of the population they also through government money, regulations, jobs etc. account for a much larger cash cow overall than however many viewers Duck Dynasty brings in. Not only that but as pure profit there is little risk to the government money and it isn't as dependent on public viewing fickleness either.

The umbrella A&E is under get's large government handouts.

  6. Whatever the motivation, Cracker Barrel says it is removing Duck stuff from their restaurants. I won't be eating at CB anymore.

    1. Frank, From what I read Cracker Barrel pulled only A&E franchised material but left "Duck Commander" brand which belongs to the family. Merry Christmas friend.

  8. Very interesting. I like you think Phil has too high of morals to be involved in this crap but I don't know about A&E. Like others have said A&E needs DD butt DD doesn't need A&E. I think A&E has screwed up royally and this is going to bite them in the behind!

    Merry Christmas Duke and family!

    1. Mamma Bear, I am sure the family would not go along with a plot like this but like you say A&E might. Either way it may backfire on them. Merry Christmas my friend.

  9. My guess would be that the two ladies who run A&E just panicked and acted without thinking. Now they have to figure a way out of the quagmire.

  10. Harry, could be, either way they need to sort it out. Thanks. Merry Christmas.

    2. Duke,

Good news! Cracker Barrel is rescinding the order to pull DD merchandize. Just read an article that says CB was getting bombarded by folks, and acknowledge they made a mistake. Will be putting DD back on the shelves.

      Can still eat at CB!
