Hot coffee weather.

It's another cold morning in the Florida Tundra but I am enjoying the cold snap, it will kill off the bugs in the garden.
A few days ago I picked a wheelbarrow full of oranges from my tree and squeezed four and a half gallons of fresh juice. My grapefruit did poorly last year  but the oranges were a bumper crop.
Think I might go get a glass of vitamin C now.

  1. Duke its 29 here as I write this, compared to the -18 and -35 windchill yesterday, today feels like Florida. Schools have been close 3 times this month due to the wind chill. If we had your 45 here, we all would be wearing sweat shits instead of arctic wear. Enjoy that OJ..

  2. Nice. Did it ever get cold enough to threaten the trees at all?

    1. PP, My trees seem to survive quite well. I have never tried to protect them from cold. Most citrus available here has been developed to withstand below freezing (in the twenties) for about 5 hours and 32 deg for 8 to 10 hours so I am good there.

  4. Yummeh...My neighbor who owns a rental in town usually brings me fresh oranges from her tree there but our crazy weather froze them this year. I like to make marmalade and mix it with my fresh goat yogurt.

    1. Mamma Bear, Sounds interesting. Nothing like good marmalade. Thanks.

  5. Duke,

This is nothing better than fresh squeezed orange juice from your own oranges, and a large cup of hot coffee for the cold weather.

  7. I saw they were getting snow across the panhandle tonight. It's been brutal in the North Georgia mountains, and looks like it will go on through next week. Not much to do about it except just wait it out.

The only orange juice is get is from a carton, nothing like fresh squeezed.
