In June of 1943 in the Pacific, a B-17 named Old 666 was attacked by 17 Japanese Zero fighters. Most Dog Fights last about 1 minute, this one lasted over 40 minutes . For their courage and bravery, the entire crew was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross while her captain and another crew member received the country’s highest award, The Congressional Medal of Honor.
