You Know What Ticks Me Off.

Today is Pearl Harbor Day, one of the most 'turning point' days in our history. If you go to Google's search page there is no remembrance of it. All through the year they will commemorate the birthday of some obscure person who died over 100 years ago and wrote something or painted something nobody ever heard off and yet they ignore Pearl Harbor Day, makes me so mad. Oh well maybe nobody really cares anymore.................

I'm curious, has anyone ever seen a 'Pearl Harbor Survivor' tag like the one shown here on a Toyota or Honda ???? (I know you have never seen one on a Mitsubishi, they made a lot of Japanese planes)

Remember Pearl Harbor. Those who forget and fail to learn from history will be doomed to repeat it, or did we repeat it on 9-11 ?

  1. Duke, I believe we repeated it on 9/11 and I also believe we are about to repeat it again really soon and I'm afraid that the next time it will be like nothing we've ever seen before.

  7. Most people don't care about anything not closely revolving around their own little world. I don't think it will change, or get better over time.

My Grandfather signed up because of Pearl Harbor, and that started my family being in WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf.

Maybe Facebook advertisements about Pearl Harbor would help....

  8. Hey Duke...I think we forgot collectively in hopes of not exposing the next generation to the evils of the world. The greatest generation thus created the Hippy Generation which created the Me myself and I generation(mine) which created the day care generation and we forgot that the evil that exists will continue regardless of our blinders.

My youngest was 6 on 9-11 and if it wasn't for me she would not know how it felt that day. We must not shield our children from evil yet we should protect their innocence.

We must reveal to our children how our nation is and how it must be to stand. The innocence will go as one ages as the realities of the world are very abrupt, but shielding one from the very thing that can and will build safety measures is beyond wise and we have proof thanks to the children of WWII.

I confess I am a history buff. I believe firmly in Dwight Eisenhower's action of taking entire German villages through the concentration camps as the horror that existed in plain sight(and often odor) must be carried forward in order for us to NOT repeat the same actions.

I believe that those people that died in Pearl Harbor demand my attention. They were not heroes as we have abused that word, they were simply soldiers that allowed others to stand...their deaths resulted in a massive American stance. I pray never to forget that our military carries every day a loss that we must never forget or we will fall.

Our soldiers do not consider themselves heroes. Believe me I know, as I am connected to a soldier as a daughter, granddaughter, wife, sister, cousin, aunt, and now mother.

Excellent that you wrote this post...

And I for one and standing today along side you.

    Jennifer

  9. Stephen, Done. (Hi Kymber)
Max, You are correct most people are only concerned about their own little world. That may come to a screaming halt one day.
Humble Wife, Thank you so much for your well thought out comment. I (like you) strive to make my kids realize the importance of it. My kids range in age from 22 to 29 and it helped home schooling them. I think kids in school need to be shown the horrors of war and history, they watch every other kind of garbage it can't hurt but they are taught by liberal's who want to re-write history to suit their views. Thanks again friend.

  12. I've never ever seen a "Pearl Harbor Survivor tag". I'm sure that they are now, few and far between. I feel that a lot of the kids today, need a reality check in the worse way. Course, it may be to late.

  13. I remembered and didn't need a google plug to do so, though I'm not like a lot of "youngsters." Rest easy knowing that there are still a few good kids out there. ; )

  14. Flier389, You are correct they would be few and far between anymore, I used to see a few around Navy bases in years past. I guess a widow could still be driving around with one though. I do know some WWII vets still driving.
Kitchen Witch, I (like you) didn't need a Google reminder it's just they pick the oddball things to commemorate and ignore the important stuff, it's very unpatriotic in my book. And I agree there is still a few good kids out there and I hope I help some of them along the way.
